Holliwood Lips

Hello World!

I've discovered a lipstick that I love! I never really wore lipstick that often in the past. I can wear it more now because LipSense liquid lip color doesn't get on my teeth or my clothes or my husband. I also have a business out of it! One day, I saw my best friend from high school selling LipSense on Facebook. I bought a color from her and tried it out for about 3 months, then I really wanted another color! I realized if I wanted another color I might want to get a discount and sign up for the wholesale price as an independent distributor. At this point, I thought I might as well sell my favorite lipstick! I have a few ideas on why I really love the product and sell it. Lipstick, inspiring women, humanitarian efforts, and the arts (fashion, acting, & poetry) bring me so much joy!

I love the company because the founder, Joni Rogers-Kante, said she dealt with a crisis in her life and had no income or home as a single mother. Carman, her friend, took Joni under her wing and so Joni had the chance to make a business. Joni wanted to make a product that worked and a career that really worked. She liked direct sales because it gave women or men an opportunity to make money regardless of age, background, or education. She also started Make Sense foundation, a non profit organization that provides for women and children in crisis. I'm in the middle of reading Joni's book titled, Million Dollar Lips. I was excited and motivated because she published the quote from Steve Levenson (see photo).

I was inspired to make my own You Tube channel for Holliwood Lips. Holliwood Lips is my business name for being a SeneGence International independent distributor (LipSense). If Holliwood Lips makes any profit in the future for the videos created then I can donate the money to organizations like Make Sense Foundation that help others in need! Just stories from Joni's book and the quote alone presses me forward to discover other's stories, to encourage, and to find the good in God's creation!

My Holliwood Lips You Tube series is called What About Your Story? This channel features anyone who wants to share their story in a 30-60 second "bio blast". We are all influential on each other as God's creation. The premise of the video series is to discover stories and inspire others. I would hope that inspiration is to "speak kind words" and lend a "helping hand".

I bought a lipstick to see how it worked and that produced a spark! I noticed my friend Laura was having fun, and I wanted to support her and at the same time make a business for myself. I've always been a huge fan of the clothing designer Betsey Johnson who makes the iconic lip prints. Also, I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's about a million times in my life! In this film, Audrey Hepburn puts on lipstick from her mail box. So adorable! I also love poetry and helping others. Add it all up and your sum total is a very joyous young woman who can praise her Heavenly Father with her nice red/pink "holliwood" lips. ;-)

Thank you to Joni Rogers-Kante and all those who inspire me at SeneGence International!

Dreamworks Trolls :-) "Oh snap."

Yello World! Warning: 80's slang used in this article JUST FOR FUN; 80's fan discretion is advised. Big time!

I didn't collect all the trolls growing up, but I did have one and loved it's jewel belly button so much!  Can you relate? So I was down to go see the new 2016 Dreamworks movie, Trolls. I kid you not; NO spoilers here! Anyone who thinks animations with modern pop originals and classic 80's/90's songs are bombdigity, this is your jam. It was light hearted, inspiring, and fun to dance to while watching!
When you make a movie about trolls you'd think with all the harsh social media "trolls" out there bad mouthing everyone on the planet that this movie would have a deep dark plot. But it was totally opposite of that! I wanted to see this movie because the lead character Poppy a very optimistic leader shares her honest feelings and wants to protect people. Positive thinkers are totally radical. It wasn't all positive. There were Bergens, the troll eaters, that is like grody to the max!
"Ok, people, hair we go!", one of the many funny lines in the movie. I was inspired because it was so visually colorful and the writing was pretty funny. I definitely laughed and cried and danced throughout the 90 minutes. When you have so many tubular environments that look like felt boards from Sunday school, that's tight! Glitter and scrapbooking is excellent visuals for me! Plus, the variety of characters keeps you on your toes.
I wasn't quite so sure about all the of the music choices (for kiddos) that had big base like the song titled Hair Up, but I think I like it. My favorite song that got me dancing was...most all of them! There are even a couple of songs that are tear jerkers in some emotional scenes. I already like listening to the movie's soundtrack.
I don't normally do movie reviews, so this is a big deal. Maybe it is the 80's and 90's themes that I love about this movie or the positive attitudes of the trolls, but if you want to have a trolly good time go see it! Check out my husband and I's troll hair wigs (from Comic Con Trolls H Hall exclusive premiere) we wore to the theater to watch it last night! So fun! We even ate out at Steak n' Shake with them on which is so brave of us. Thank you Dreamworks.

Music Making

Hi! Long time, no blog writing! After a lot of recycling...

Deep thoughts: I'm looking for a female musician who likes pop music and wants to record on garage band. Someone also who would enjoy playing for an Owl City synth pop type of genre. I have written lyrics and we can co write lyrics too. I am a singer that sounds like this: https://soundcloud.com/hollidean

Interviews will be in process! Thank you!

Operation Rubbish: Limited Land Resources

 Hello World!

Last Saturday, I visited the Glendale Scholl Canyon Landfill. I learned that the garbage industry is money driven, landfill employees do care about recycling ♻️, that trash can produce energy, and last but not least our land resources are limited!
Rubbish Operations

When you dump a load of garbage, you have to pay for that trash. On the flip side, there are numerous things a landfill has to pay. There is the constant need for managing garbage (25 ft. layer), covering it with dirt (18 ft. layer), water truck wetting the dirt roads, someone pulling large item recyclables that customers do not recycle, bird operations setting off whistling pete fireworks, etc.

The tires, big plastics, and metals are pulled out if possible in order to recycle. Tires are reusable not recyclable. There is another company for shredding the tires and placing back into tar or asphalt uses. The big plastics and metals are gathered by the landfill employee(s) to recycle. The interview I had with one of the operations managers stated that his household definitely recycles and he finds it very important to do so.

The methane gas electricity generation is done by a separate entity. There were large pipes all around the landfill to vacuum out the gas and sent to a power plant. The flare pad is highly explosive but they have safety procedures for this.

Overall, now that we are in the year 2015, landfills are much more organized and energy efficient for cleanliness and safety! But what motivates people to recycle?  I believe seeing the landfill shows we have limited land resources. If there is any motivation in recycling, it's to serve and give our future generations a chance at having land! You lose a landfill once it meets a height capacity! So please! Let's keep on keeping on the reduce, reuse, recycle ♻️ movement.

P.S.- I'm very appreciative of the tour I was given at the landfill. Check out some photos I took.

Trash Collectors and Recyclers ♻️

Hello world!
Let's appreciate trash collectors and the special, inspiring individuals who recycle! I've been researching waste management, where it all goes and how I can help! Check out my visit to the local landfill in the next blog!

I surveyed some friends to see who is recycling in my community. I found that less than half of them actually recycle.
In June, a few of my friends and I wanted to help pick it up! We picked up some trash in only one hour. We piled four mattresses, 3 couches, several wood headboards, miscellaneous ply wood pieces, and around 6 bags of trash and had it picked up by LAS or threw it in the dumpster. Thank you Los Angeles Sanitation! See it here on LA Sanitation's facebook:

Also, I want to give a blog thank you to a particular environmentalist and artist who helps pick up waste on the beaches and uses that garbage to make a statement with fashion or art as a serious sign for what is happening to our earthly home. See it here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Washed-

From land to sea, we have plenty of trash. My hope is to motivate and excite more people to recycle and learn for myself how to appropriately recycle!
Even despite my little survey, I can still be thankful for the recycling program in Los Angeles! According to a report on Los Angeles Sanitation website 2013, LA is ranked top recycler out of 10 of the largest U.S. cities. http://lacitysan.org/solid_resources/recycling/index.htm

FUN FACT: if you want to make a dollar bill for your recycled bottles and cans, go to your local rePlanet reverse vending machines! http://replanet.com/

How do you recycle? Show it off and hashtag #recycle
